he cites Glassdoor salary stats from 2013 and comes up with $112,915 as the average salary for a software engineer at Google (US) which is obviously problematic cus it doesn't control for city or time (salaries had been rising for the few years before that) or include stock/bonus (which, at least for me, added over 40%). for senior he gets $114,692
